If there’s one thing that makes every garden immediately develop a personality, it’s flowers. There’s a reason for centuries men have been using the beauty of a flower to seduce women – because it works!
If you’re here because your garden is looking old and tired, lacklustre, or maybe even not complete, then you’ve come to the right place. I have been designing gardens freelance for a while now and a good colourful (matching) flowerbed can be the catalyst for a beautiful garden.
We have listed 8 gardens which utilise flowerbeds to look great. We hope you’re as inspired as we are 🙂
Now, this might be a weird one to kick it off with as this garden is clearly unfinished, but bear with me. The reason I have included this garden in this list is for one reason – it is yet to be completed, but still has flowers. As you can see, despite being unfinished at first glance it seems as if it is. All because of the colourful flowers. So not only do they look great, but they can make up for less-than-great surroundings.
I doubt this landscape will fit in your garden, but if it can then well done! But I have chosen this for the beautiful and elegant colours and organisation that clearly has had some thought put into it. The circular shape is also mirrored by the lawn which I think looks great.
A modern example of flowerbeds. The steps in the middle of the bedding gives it a unique impression which bodes well on passers-by. The neatly kept lawns are also vital in this scene, as the modern feel would vanish otherwise.
I think everyone would agree that this flowerbed is stunning. The purple, red, orange and yellows give off a summer vibe with the matching decor adding to the prowess. I think most would love to have such a gorgeous setting in their back garden.
The neatly trimmed lawn goes beautifully with the surrounding flowerbeds. They aren’t matching too much, but the different colours work well with the rustic wall, giving off a more natural impression. This would be a good design to go for if you have a large sloping garden.
I have always believed that a water feature is a must-have in a contemporary garden, and here the flowers make it look like you have a miniature lake in your yard. Some of the decor is a bit skeptical, but you can’t take anything away from the originality.
A simple but effective garden here. The above-ground flowerbed makes your eye draw to it instantly. The mixture of colours and flowers give a nice natural feel. I don’t know about you, but I would rather a garden with this feature than a plain lawn.
A beautiful violet/purple flowerbed that shows off modernity with its simplicity. Although I am a big lover of mixing up colours, the simple purple/green/white pallette here is perfect for the space. As long as you maintain it often, this is a perfect example of utilising flowerbeds.
